I used to follow this band back in the day. I got a sampler somehow through Reprise Records of this band. Reminded me a lot of Weezer's blue album or even Fountains of Wayne.

Just in case you didn't know, they changed their name because apparently they had confusion with it when they would play shows. So they changed it to Maroon 5 and became millionaires.
